On July 25th, a brand new theme park called Jungliera Okinawa opened its gates in Nakijin Village, in the northern part of Okinawa’s main island. Despite the typhoon winds and occasional rain, crowds of excited visitors gathered from early morning to experience the park’s unique attractions that combine thrilling adventure with Okinawa’s lush natural beauty.
One of the standout attractions is the “Dinosaur Safari,” where visitors ride off-road vehicles through the jungle while trying to escape from giant animatronic Tyrannosaurus rexes. “It felt like I had stepped into a movie scene,” said a high school student who lined up with friends at sunrise to secure a ticket for the ride. “I’m so happy we finally have a theme park like this in Okinawa!”
Jungliera Okinawa offers 22 different attractions, as well as a luxurious spa overlooking the jungle and a sky-high restaurant with seats that seem to float above the park. With tropical trees, rough terrain for four-wheeled buggies, and panoramic terraces, it provides an immersive experience unlike anything else in Japan.
For many, this park adds a whole new dimension to Okinawa’s appeal. Traditionally known for its beautiful beaches and rich culture, the northern region of the island had been overlooked by tourists in favor of the south. Jungliera is expected to change that trend by drawing more visitors to the area.
With Okinawa already attracting nearly 10 million tourists annually—comparable to Hawaii—Jungliera is set to boost tourism further. The park’s opening marks a significant step in redefining the island’s identity as not only a tropical getaway, but also an adventure-filled destination for families and thrill-seekers alike.

7月25日、「ジャングリア沖縄」という新しいテーマパークが、沖縄本島北部の今帰仁村で開園しました。台風の風と時折の雨にもかかわらず、朝早くから多くの来場者が、スリル満点のアトラクションと沖縄の豊かな自然美が融合した体験を求めて集まりました。
目玉アトラクションの一つは「ダイナソーサファリ」で、来園者はジャングルの中をオフロード車に乗って、巨大なティラノサウルスから逃げるという体験ができます。「まるで映画のワンシーンに入り込んだようだった」と、夜明け前から友人と並んで整理券を手に入れた高校生は語りました。「沖縄にこうしたテーマパークができて本当にうれしいです！」
ジャングリア沖縄には、22の異なるアトラクションのほか、ジャングルを見渡せる豪華なスパや、空中に浮かんでいるかのような座席からパーク全体を見渡せる高所レストランなども用意されています。熱帯の木々、四輪バギーで走れる悪路、パノラマテラスなど、他では味わえない没入型の体験ができます。
多くの人にとって、このパークは沖縄の魅力に新たな側面を加えるものです。これまで美しいビーチや豊かな文化で知られてきた沖縄ですが、その北部地域は観光客にあまり注目されていませんでした。ジャングリアの登場で、こうした傾向に変化が訪れることが期待されています。
